After a long flight and about 3 hours in Manhattan, New York, we searched for a place to eat dinner. We ended up in Goodburger NY. They didn't lie - it was good! It started to rain, very gentle. We went back to our hotel room. Tired. Outside the rain was now pouring down and i was to tired to move any furniture to get closer to the window, for my shot. The reflection in the window are from our room, but somehow i think it adds to the mood of the photograph. I love the sound of rain, especially the sound of rain hitting the window. Laying in bed and listening to the rain somehow calms me. I went to bed with a smile on my face.

WOW! I love the stark, Industrial feel of the photo. The BW is perfect.

lovely framing. my favorite part of this is the cars that are moving and blurry. does have that big city feeling.

Great shot, and I think HDR in black and white looks cool, I hope to see other photos like this one!

Ohhh, it looks like it was taken from a batman movie (dark, slightly depressing)

very nice

The rain on the window is a nice touch, but somehow the whole scene is a little to grey in my eyes, it would have been nice if you had darkend the road a bit to lead the eye a little more into the image!

Hey man,

Great one. First I thought that you had used some kind of texture on this, but it made sense when I read your description. You've created some very good shots from N.Y !

Would love to go there again some day.

There is a nostalgic mood, thanks to the rain and the grey tones, which remembers me movies from the 50s. And also something peaceful, maybe because observing the scene and its actions in the upper levels of the street. Great job, indeed.

Like the bw processing, enhances the mood in this shot. Amazing view, feel like I'm really looking out that window. Interesting environment in New York, you captured it perfectly with this picture.

I agree too. Does have that big city feel to it. Great mood you have created here.

SO emotional!!!! i like it so much..

Wow! Amazing shot. This is one of my favorites from your collection. The rain and your story make it really moody. Otherwise I feel the same about the sound of rain on the windowsill.

A different view of NY, for sure. I am always affected by the staining of time on all our human creations, and this has it's decaying showing. But it sure shows the packed in reality of the big city.
If you hadn't mentioned the manner of taking it I don't think I'd notice the room reflection as a problem. Good shot of a busy place.

very impressive vision.... wow !

Absolutely stunning. It has a great 1950's feel to it that reminds me of an old movie. Really nice.

i like this shot. there is so much to see. i like urban landscapes where one gets losed in the details.

Mike on June 21, 2008 20:23

Great shot with much to see. The black and white makes your eyes follow the hundreds of lines around the image with no color to distract. Really nice.

Due your comment of holiness of cows in India:
