Bryant Park is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, behind the New York Public Library's main branch, Bryant Park is an urban oasis. When its night thirteen 1,000 watt lights shine down on Bryant Park, from the Verizon building.

I shot this in black and white and with a red filter on my lens. Digital lets you quickly and costless try different filters out. I have been thinking about infrared HDR... .. .is it possible ? I don't know, but i am gonna find out.

Camera: Nikon D200
Focal length: 27mm
Aperture: f/8

Nice work on this Bo. Interesting concept on IR with HDR.

May not work on the D200 though, because of Nikons Anti IR filter in front of the imaging chip. My 8800 works well with IR though. I spent $200.00 for a 77mm IR filter only to find it wouldn’t work for the D200. :(

Very nice, the combination of HDR and B&W works really well here and gives the picture a surreal feeling.

i can almost hear the sound of water falling on water. like your choice of a low angle for this.

Great opposition of architecture styles and subjects.

Very neat shot and thanks for the explanation about the red filter!

It like everything is made of tin, it’s like a miniature in tin. Really interesting effect. Nice.

This is really nice. I like it in b-w. I would really like to go there some day….

Excellent shot Bo,like how you made the fountain the prominent subject in the foreground. Thanks for the answer to my question. I admit to taking things for granted with digital. Especially, when bracketing exposures I just shoot away and know I’m going to hit on a great exposure with one of the shots. Good luck with your techniques. Years ago I use to shoot only B/W film and loved to try different filters to see the effects. Have a great vacation.

Cool Bo, HDRi in b&w are most famous. On the trees it have a litte IR-effect, well done!

Very nice. And I really like the surrounding scene as well.

Lovely tones and a grand scale. It’s like I’m sitting there with my cup of coffee.

Hmm.. but it tested the D200 in darkness with the front of the remote control and afterwards (2min. of pressing the remote), i could see the dots on the “film” I better test again.

I really like the B&W on this shot. Also there is a softness to the image that is great.

Wonderful greyscale and stunning details. Maybe I should go out and try my first HDR photos.

Claus on July 26, 2008 01:09

Nice black and white, even if it is a bit grey, and lacks some contrast, you have still retained a lot of detail witch makes it a nice image to explore!

Great urban landscape, love the tones.. and wow, IR with hdr is something you should try, sounds cools

Spot on! Aaaggaaiinn :) I’m not sure about the composition, would have placed the fountain more in the middle. The rest is as every time very good . Manhattan is just the place to be.
