This weekend i visited an old friend i had not seen in almost 10 years. He moved away from Copenhagen and has bought an Inn, in Tulstrup, called Tulstrup Kro. 'Kro' is danish for an Inn. Tulstrup is located in Jutland, and pretty close to Skanderborg.

If your around Tulstrup, i can highly recommend visiting Tulstrup Inn when you get hungry. They serve some delicious food.

Early Sunday morning, before anybody else was awake, i was out walking. I shot way too many rolls of 120mm and 35mm film. At Tulstrup church, this tree caught my eye. Luckily i had brought my digital Nikon also.

Camera: Nikon D200
Focal length: 27mm

That is a cool looking tree. I like how the vines are climbing up it.

One strange thing with these places is that I find them strangely soothing

Bo on July 15, 2008 10:20

@Jan: I know exactly what you mean :)

Looks like such a nice day. Quiet and peaceful. I can picture being there. This is why I love the early mornings. Very nice photograph Bo.

Beautiful morning light for this village cemetery, so clean, so peaceful. It makes me think that in some way we try to make cemeteries look like paradise. After all, isn't it where we hope our dear losts stand?

Lunamania on July 15, 2008 18:25

I like how deliberate and clean the composition feels:the path, sky, headstones--all feel like they have a place in the image.

Claus on July 15, 2008 23:54

It's not bad, but it not the usual standard you deliver, especially the sky looks like it has been compressed a bit to much.

Radel on July 16, 2008 07:25

interesting looking tree. Looks like a very calm place.

I think pictures taken on cemetries have the specila serenity, I like the tree in the back, it must have been there for so long watching over the dead, I love the whole scene.

Hugh Petrie on July 16, 2008 13:36

This may be the prettiest cemetery I've ever seen.

I'm puzzled that Claus thinks the image is compressed and noticeable in the sky. I don't see that. Looks good to me.

Bo on July 16, 2008 13:53

@Huge Petrie: After Claus mentioned it, i looked at it and when i refreshed my browser, it was gone. Think it was a server "hick up"

A very well kept cemetery. You've captured the peacefulness well.

Quibbler on July 17, 2008 18:27

I ws wondering when you sleep.. cause it seems that you are up before the rooster is crowing ;-)

really nice clear shoot, very sharpen, very peaceful.

Unusual subject matter for HDR, but it works very well!

Nice light, I can feel morning atmosphere. Wouldn't you think that top half (or so) of this photo would be enough?

Mirko Herzner on July 18, 2008 21:19

This is really a fine shot. Imagine some old lady standing ducked in front of such a grave stone. Impressive work.

Bo on July 18, 2008 21:57

@Quibbler: *LOL* well my son actually felt sick, so i went to bed early. So he didn't sleep alone, if something should happen.

@Miro: It would be more than enough :) I framed this shot several times, trying to figure out what to get

Stunning image Bo, really like that tree and the walkway leading into this image. Amazing details in the cemetery head stones. Great work again. BTW I setup a new web site at sirius2photography.com

For what the photo shows, I really like the layers i see here.
