Wollman Skating Rink offers ice skating in Central Park. Co-ed Youth & Adult Hockey,. Skating School, Figure skating, Ice Dancing or you could invite 2,000 of your closest friends for a party, that they never will forget.

Wollman Skating Rink was captured completely wrong by me. I shot some exposures at ISO 100, but because of the moving vehicles cleaning the ice, i could not capture it fast enough at ISO 100. So i turned the ISO dial to 800. Now the movement wasn't that noticeable.

Coming back to Wollman skating rink 30 minutes later, all the vehicles had stopped. Tripod and camera out. Frame and shoot. Did i forget to recheck my ISO setting? I had to do a lot of work to make this one work, because of noise.

Camera: Nikon D200
Focal length: 27mm
Aperture: f/11
Exposures: 9

Wow it is weird to see an Ice skating ring outside when it looks like a nice summer day around it. I would say your clean up efforts worked as I like the way this shot turned out!

glad to hear i’m not the only one who forgets that ISO adjustment! this turned out well though. the ice machines looks like toys against those buildings.

thats a great look at 27mm, love that everything is owned by Trump there too. great eye.

I agree your clean up efforts pay off in style! I like how you’ve captured the quiet of the park in the middle of Manhattan…

Nice to know that others also forget to set the correct ISO once in a while :)

There is something very very wrong with ice and green grass on the same picture!!!

I like the contrast between the city and the green trees

Nice picture. And only the result counts, no matter the problems you had ! This picture is very good, very interesting and the details are stunning. This is what is important !

Remarkable job considering the amount of noise there would be at 800. I suppose this looks like a daylight shot so that would have helped but still. great framing, the ice looks so inviting!

Extraordinary landscape! Love the colors, they are so vivid and soft. I haven’t been to central park in 20 years, this image makes me want to go back. I wonder if ISO will ever be “fully automatic”? I don’t think I would like that though. Your work paid off, the shot looks great!

Nice place to skate in a green area of the Big Apple, but to me it looks more to a rink, even the season is not really appropriate.

not the most interesting place you have shown here on you blog, but I do like the sambonies. :-)

This shot looks like there are two different photos in it. The skyscrapers on the one hand and the greenery and ice place on the other. Funny.

Another nice New York photo. Great detail. Looking at the image I would never think there was ever a noise problem. Good work here Bo.

Excellent image as usual, especially the foreground railing and trucks they are fascinating. Great details in the buildings each one is so unique. Great work again Bo.

Being a fan of HDR photo your site is a treasure to find! Working on the HDR myself, and it is hard to make it real, and not overdo it! I have enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back, lots of inspiration and learning here! Thanks!

Nice urban landscape shot. The buildings are a nice contrast to the trees and the rink. The trucks on the ice look like toys.

Good composition. The picture is very detailed and crisp! I like it.

Lovely image! It’s a shame that the ice is not more reflective

crash on August 29, 2008 19:12

hey! when did you take this? I just saw a carnival on the ring the other day!

Bo on August 30, 2008 09:01

@Crash: I took this during my vacation in New York, in May 2008. The carnival must have looked really cool.
