This is the first reunion of the eating outdoor team. Bad weather does not exists. In rain, sun, snow and even windy situations - the eating outdoor team could be found at, lunch time - eating outdoor.

It started when we worked at Rejsbygade, Copenhagen. Eating in a backyard. It provided some cover for the wind and the rain. The company moved to Islands Brygge and we continued the tradition of eating outdoor.

At Islands Brygge it became a little more tough, we didn't have that much cover anymore, but we continued anyway. It is really hard getting nine people to stand still - and one person in particular!

Camera: Nikon D200
Focal length: 27mm
Aperture: f/5.6
Exposures: 9

What a great tradition, and a nice group portrait.

Sean on April 8, 2008 03:37

Looks like a good group. Great tones and colors throughout.

I’m guessing the little fella is the difficult one:-) It must be so cold with the wind coming across that water. Nice to keep the friendship going. Neat shot.

Klaus on April 8, 2008 06:21

Stop the breath, freeze the smile - that’s hard. ;-) - Nice background and good colourd sky, well done Bo.

Michael Skorulski on April 8, 2008 08:21

An excellent image in fine detail. I love the sky!

Jan Erik Moström on April 8, 2008 09:15

:) I’m grateful that none has thought about that where I work !!

Nice sky (I really should try HDR!!)

trond.haugerud on April 8, 2008 10:02

Nice shot! Excellent colours and a very casual portrait. Very good and informative site, btw. I’ll be stopping by a lot! :-)

Great shot of the sky. You should see some Asia sky at www.asrisai.com/photographs-of-nature

you have a lot of good pictures. but you always make HDR images?¿ and 9 exposures?¿ when I make a HDR i make 3 or 4 exposures only… to make portraits it has to be difficult! see you!

Astrid on April 8, 2008 12:17

I am impressed, to stand still like that, especiality for the little fellow, nice tradition, love the way you do these HDR, everytime I am impressed.

Bo on April 8, 2008 12:19

I find that the nine exposures makes it much easier to create “my style”. I have done 14 exposures Houses Behind Christiania and also “only” 5 Riding On The Subway In Barcelona

Amy on April 8, 2008 13:32

This is a great group shot, I love how the sky came out.

John Maslowski on April 8, 2008 14:45

Another great HDRI. I’m a 5 exposure guy myself sometimes venturing to 7 or 9 but typically 5. Anyway, love your images and this one is no exception. Excellent work.

cdehl on April 8, 2008 15:06

Wow, that came out pretty good, the subjects notwithstanding.

Did you have to do anything special to avoid the motion blur, because as far as I remember we certainly didn’t stand still for all 9 exposures.

Also, was there much post processing?

Photomatix has an option to remove movement. It works pretty good with small movements. I had to clean up my own head movement, Simons child and Just’s running around :) Layers: - Changed the color - Contrast add - “Frame” adjustments - Dodge n burn - A bit of sun streaks - Sharpening for screen

Sympatique ce traitement de l’image

marie on April 8, 2008 17:49

endroit original, et superbe traitement.

Scarabaeus on April 8, 2008 18:29

Sounds a good idea, personally I really like the slightly dull colours in this photo, it makes it look older.

Claus Petersen on April 8, 2008 21:04

This is not bad.. but somehow the low contrast is is makeing this image a little flat.

Justin on April 8, 2008 21:10

Nice portrait. Interesting processing as well.

Simon on April 8, 2008 21:31

Great picture beside that we look like 7 sure mænd (sorry you have to watch danish TV to get this).

Ruprect on April 9, 2008 00:02

Great shot! .. And don’t we all just look great!

jump on April 9, 2008 09:48

Wow, really cool processing :)

dillonpic on April 9, 2008 15:32

nice shot! looks like a fun day. I like how you processed this.

bac on April 9, 2008 19:42

Nice spot for lunch! Nice shot!

Jim on April 9, 2008 20:38

That’s what life is all about…having fun with good friends. Wonderful shot.

Meticulis.com on April 9, 2008 22:34

I dig this - cool subject matter and solid work throughout the processing. What I really like is that you’re open to the manipulation you do. Too many people take the stigma that “digital processing removes the validity of the image”. I dont’ buy that at all. It’s all relative, from the old-school B&W work from the early 1900s to Photoshop, Photomatix and Lightroom of today. Nice work.

Ten Things on April 9, 2008 23:57

I like the photo, but even more I like the way you note all the pertinent information about the camera and exposure. I wish more photographers would do that on their blogs, it helps me learn. I try to include all the exposure information when I post pictures on my blog, too.

om on April 12, 2008 21:14

Great image and a great story.

Benny on April 19, 2008 23:16

Very interesting tones. You’ve captured a nice moment in time.

michele on April 20, 2008 16:47

tok on May 1, 2008 01:30

really good capture. brilliant background. nicely done.

Alejandra on May 14, 2008 22:26

What a great and difficult shot! A lot to learn here! Love the group portrait and your history!

Line Lamarre on May 21, 2008 03:23

WOW beautiful work and shot. My congratulations.

Csaba/EyeVision on May 22, 2008 10:03

Somehow it reminds me the Sopranos. :) Of course I don’t mean that your friends look like mobsters but the mood of this image looks like a screen from the series. Nice work.
